Grades 6-7-8

The Middle School years in the life of a student are a unique path of growth and development.  GVCS desires to partner with parents who desire a Christ-centered education for their student. These are important years of discovery of academic potential and developing spiritual discernment for social emotional and cultural choices.

The 6-7-8 grade curriculum solidifies the foundation of the essential skills and concepts in the core academic disciplines.  There is an increased emphasis in critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication throughout all curriculums.  The integration of the Biblical World View is a priority as student work moves deeper into investigation, research, and problem solving.  The middle school curriculum includes:

  • Bible and Bi-Weekly Chapels
  • Language Arts: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking
  • Mathematics, Algebra I
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Health
  • Spanish
  • Music
  • Band
  • Choir
  • Art
  • Physical Education
  • Technology Infusion in all Academics
  • Careers

All teachers are licensed by the Iowa Department of Education and are skilled in Biblical integration.  The Middle School program is recognized as an accredited nonpublic private school program through the Iowa Department of Education. Iowa Assessments are administered for annual grade level achievement.  Parent Conferences are available bi-annually and as needed and intervention conferences are schedule upon request.

Extra-curricular activities include field trips, fine arts performances, student government, athletics, Christian service projects, Middle School Banquet, Middle School Blast.

Testimony of salvation:

I was saved at the age of six at my home.  I heard a message about salvation in children’s church but I did not tell anyone at church that I needed to be saved; I waited until the car ride home to tak to my parents about my need for salvation. At home that evening I knelt down by the couch and received Christ as my Savior.

My wife and I help in the college and career class and sing in choir.

I am not an alumnus of GPBS but all four of my grown children graduated from GPBS. 


I have four grown children and I have eight grandchildren- five girls and three boys. 

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not teaching?

I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren

How long have you been in your job at Grand View?

This is my 32nd year at Grand View. 

What brought you to GV or why did you decide to work here?

I student taught at Grandview then after ten years in two other schools, one in Ohio and the other in Idaho, I felt the Lord calling me back to central Iowa.
