Thunder Games TODAY
5 and 6:30pm
Important softball fan reminders from our athletic director:
We're off to a great start to the softball season! I would like to express my thanks to all who have come out in support of our players and coaches. We have had great numbers in attendance and your cooperation given our field agreement has been excellent. We are grateful to Altoona Baseball for opening up field 7 and the opportunity it has afforded us to host home games. However, we are not just working with the baseball organization, we are also working with Altoona Softball. The softball organization has made some requests and it is imperative that we are in full cooperation. First, all fans and teams must park in the baseball parking lot located on the south end of the complex, just off of 8th Street. Secondly, all fans and teams must use the baseball restrooms located in the middle of the complex across from the concession building.
Again, it is imperative that we follow the guidelines set before us. Thank you to the majority of those who have set aside personal choice and convenience in order to be a blessing to those we are working with. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through this process for the benefit of our team and most importantly in representing well what it means to be a Christ-follower.
GVCS Activities Director/Facilities Coordinator
Softball season has begun!! A "home" softball field has been secured that will provide the appropriate social distancing for each game. Praise the Lord! The HS softball team will be playing on Field 7 at the Sam Wise Youth Complex in Altoona. The address is 600 8th Ave SE, Altoona, IA 50009. Once you turn onto 8th Ave SE, drive to the first stop sign and turn right at the sign that says "Softball Complex". Stay on the main road and drive back to the larger parking lots where the bus and fans will park. Fans will take the concrete path up to field 7 where they will see the "gate" table to pay. We do not have lights so as in the past we will start the games at 4:15 and 5:45. Please see the 2020 guidelines/recommendations here before attending your first Thunder softball game.
DoctorsNow Walk-In Care will be holding Sports Physical Nights on Tuesdays through the month of June. We will be offering a discounted price of just $50 per physical on these dates and times only. We will not be taking insurance for these physical nights. We, like you, are optimistic that school athletics will resume and we want to help ensure that all our local athletes are ready! Please use the attached sports physical forms if you take advantage of this opportunity.
